Internship Programs

Dual Impact Internship Program

This program connects low-income NYC college students with paid, career-building internships at startups founded by underrepresented leaders, including female founders and founders of color. The program has a two-sided impact, as it provides support to diverse entrepreneurs who received the least amount of venture capital funding (source), while helping them learn how to manage employees and delegate responsibilities. On the other hand, students get to work on real-life projects that will see the light of day, rather than doing administrative work, or working on theoretical projects that don’t teach them new skills.

Since 2023, we’ve matched 40+ students with opportunities across technology, nonprofit, healthcare, sustainability, climate, and other industries, paying out more than $100k in internship stipends. Students develop skills in the fields of software engineering, product development, data analysis, marketing, research, operations, and more.

Applications are not currently open for this opportunity; if you are an employer interested in participating in the program, please reach out to us at info@firsttechfund.com.

Early Green Jobs Program

This program connects low-income NYC college students with paid, career-building internships in the clean energy and climate resilience sectors. The clean energy industry supports more than 4.2 million jobs nationwide, and New York City’s green economy has grown 8% annually since 2016 (source). Yet, students from low-income backgrounds are too often left out due to financial barriers and limited access to these opportunities. These opportunities are significant, but students from low-income backgrounds are often excluded due to financial barriers and a lack of exposure.

With support from ConEdison, we’ve launched this initiative to change that, placing 8 students in green internships during fall 2025, with plans to expand in 2026.
